The Writer

Eve Steele

Lub You is Eve's professional theatre debut. Although having a keen interest in writing from a young age this is her first piece to be seen by the public.

The inspiration for the play came from her own children. Lub You came into being two years after Eve became a mother for the second time. Surprised by her elder child’s reaction to the arrival of the new baby, though different from that of Charlie’s in the play, Eve’s interest in how her son’s mind worked deepened, and as she observed how the siblings’ relationship grew, how they reacted to circumstances around them, she began to develop the idea of telling a story from a child’s perspective.

"Since becoming a mother four years ago I’ve been sucked out of my own life and thrust into the world of my young children. I began to see life from their perspective. This play is the result of the chaos that ensued."

She also plays the rather unconventional starring role — that of two-year old Charlie. She has received critical recognition for this role - winning the coveted award of Best Actress from 24:7 Theatre Festival and also best performance in a fringe production at the esteemed Manchester Evening News Theatre Awards.
